Poise is the fruit of elegance, it’s the ability to stay
confident and composed at all times in every situations. So…, how poised are
you?
It’s really not about having a trending hair-do or perfecting
the lines of your make-up. As a matter of fact, you could have your natural
hair plaited with zero or mild make-up and still be poised. In other words,
being poised is all about the way and manner you carry yourself, how you take
care of your body, wardrobe and immediate surroundings.
To be poised some certain things about us need to be checked
and balanced
1.
Composure
§
Learn how to comport yourself at all times.
§
Carry yourself in a calm and gentle manner, yet
strong and purposeful.
§
Learn to be peaceful, to study people, to listen
and have a clear understanding before you talk; if you have tendencies to be
stressed and hurry all the time, learn to be calm.
§
Read; you don’t necessarily need to read ambiguous
books, magazines, short novels, articles on blogs even religious books would
help. Studies have shown that readers are more respected in the society,
because they know more.
§
Imbibe few etiquettes like greetings which is
very important in any corporate or social gathering, politeness, respect…
§
Be stylish; the way you walk, talk, eat, laugh,
etc.
2.
Always keep your mind light and happy. Good mood
is important to maintain a poised appearance. Yes! I know some situations might
cause your mood to flutter, if you are faced with such situations, you can try
this techniques which usually works for me;
§
Listen to good music.
§
Sing along and if possible dance to the music.
§
Smile your way out of the situation.
3.
Invest in your body.
§
Take supplement regularly; vitamin C & E. I
am not a doctor but believe me it’s helpful.
§
Get good skin product (facial cleansers &
moisturizers).
§
Wear clean inner-wears.
§
Take good care of your hair and nails.
§
Smell nice and radiant always; regular bath and
a good body spray will achieve that.
4.
Dress with style.
§
Always wear clothes that suits your skin colour,
size, season, occasion and personality.
§
If you want to copy a trend, make sure it suits
you.
§
Create your own personal style and follow less
trends.
§
Be confident always.
